Shun Knives

Shun Knives, a cutlery producer from Japan, has had fast and strong growth in the US market, exhibiting an almost 40% growth rate per year. Shun Knives have manufactured their knives for almost for a century in Seki City, Japan, which is known as the center of samurai sword-making.  No wonder Shun knives have the reputation of having extremely sharp blades.

Shun knives boast the following features: the Kasumi method of knifemaking, hammered Tsuchime finish, Damascus patterning, and Pakkawood. The Kasumi method is the traditional Japanese way of making a knife. Shun Knives have an extremely hard core of high-carbon steel covered with an exterior layer of another steel. This method makes the edge very sharp and sharpening easy.

The Hammered Tsuchime Finish gives the look of handcrafting to a blade, as well as a charming look on the blade. Tiny pockets on the blade act like hollow-ground cavities, reducing drag and quickly releasing food.

The Damascus styling of the blade produces the hard cutting core as well as producing an elegant-waved pattern on the blade. This styling protects the hard inner core and makes the blade's slicing action much smoother.

Finally, Shun knives use the genuine hardwood, Pakkawood, which contains moisture-resistant resin.Shun Knives has created various lines of chef knives such as the Shun Premier, Shun Classic, Shun Pro,  and the Shun Reserve.

Lastly, their oblong-shaped, premium pakkawood handle nests comfortably and securely in your hand.
