I can definitely say that this is the best knife I've ever used. The knife is very sturdy (forged), yet light & nimble and can cut through vegetables with incredible ease. It's as if I am holding one of Wolverine's adamantium claws. Plus with the name being Wusthof, I know it's a quality knife that I can keep in my house for years to come.


To keep a quality knife in tip-top shape, it follows a certain amount of upkeep (honing the knife frequently, sharpening at home occasionally, and professionally sharpened at least 1-2 times a year)


Wanting to have a way to sharpen my knives in-between professional sharpenings, I ended up buying the Wusthof 4-Stage Knife Sharpener from Amazon, which is advertised for use with all knives including Wusthofs featuring the PETec edge


The shape of the handle on this knife fits my hand very well and feels very comfortable and well balanced. I do not use a knife for hours a day, but when I prepared all the chicken and vegetables for a stew yesterday I was completely comfortable using this knife the entire time. At this point it is brand new and therefore extremely sharp with the factory edge. As with all knives, please be very careful while you are getting used to this blade.


I have had this knife for several months now. It is still as sharp as when I first got it. I even took it out into the elements at a family cookout, and it is back in my kitchen good as new. To say that I love this knife is not an understatement. Now, I will say that I baby it quite a bit. I hand wash it and dry it after every use. I also store it in its original box. By treating it well, I've been able to use it to make 60+ meals and I look forward to many, many more.

It rests comfortably in any hand; I have very small, slender hands, I've had guys with thick hands try it; and women with bigger hands try it – the consensus is the same.


The blade is balanced well – so the knife always cuts through the sturdier items nicely. Cutting mushy items like tomatoes is enjoyable – you get razor thin slices without stressing or squeezing the tomato.


The knife is very sharp – I've nicked myself just having my hand near it. This is a way a knife should be – the sharper, the less accidents you are likely to have in the kitchen.


The box that the knife came in is good for storage for the knife, but not if you are constantly taking it out and using it – consider buying a block or a tray as a housing unit.
